The Visual Arts program at Mentone Primary School fosters creativity and self-expression in an enjoyable and supportive environment. Students participate in a weekly session with a specialist art teacher in a well-resourced art room.

Students experience and explore the art elements using a vast array of mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, collage, sculpture, construction and media arts. They make choices when experimenting with art and craft techniques, materials, tools and processes. The art program aims to enhance their creativity, fine motor skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, organisation and communication skills. Students are encouraged to express themselves and their ideas through their art, reflect on their own artwork and that of other traditional and contemporary artists.
