Student Counselling
What does a Counsellor do?
Registered Counsellors are trained professionals working in a variety of settings, from early intervention services, through to moderate and high needs in primary, secondary and tertiary care. The Registered Counsellor supports individuals with behavioural change through psychological interventions.
Counselling involves a safe and confidential collaboration between qualified practitioners and clients to promote mental health and wellbeing, enhance self-understanding, and resolve identified concerns.
Counsellors help students tackle problems in a positive way by helping to clarify issues, explore options and develop strategies. Counsellors are experts in listening and helping people achieve their personal goals. They don't tend to do diagnosis or assessment, but they will support people with mild to moderate symptoms of mental illness.
